For Law Students

Complimentary Associate Membership

The CHBA supports area law students with free associate membership in the CHBA, career panels, receptions to meet CHBA members, a mentoring program, and sponsored participation in our annual award dinners.  In an effort to grow the connections between Hispanic law students and Hispanic lawyers, the CHBA aims to annually host at least two open Board meetings on the campus of the state’s law schools.

Annual Scholarship Opportunity

Since 1997, the CHBA has awarded an annual scholarship to those law students who have demonstrated a commitment to their community.  In 2004, after receiving a grant from the Anthem Foundation, Inc., the CHBA created a second scholarship for law students who seek to address health issues in the Hispanic community. In addition to the CHBA’s scholarship, students may also find the Hispanic National Bar Association’s opportunities worthwhile.

For High School and College Students

The CHBA also supports area high school and college students. We have consistently participated in Law Day by bringing our members together with inner city school students to provide opportunities for learning and dialogue. The CHBA’s Law Day efforts have been featured in the American Bar Association’s guide for the planning of Law Day activities. For several years, the CHBA co-sponsored a career day for area Hispanic college students.
